A. The whole Mario setup is copyright protected. You can't use any of it without permission but you can create your own content that's similar to the theme or hints of Mario

Can someone explain to me how philanthropy works?
Q. I want to get into an organization and eventually run my own, I need to know if I have this understood. If I join an organization then I can raise money on my own by doing fundraisers then contributing the money I receive to the organization, right? Or will I have to work directly with the organization any time I have an idea of how to raise money?
Asked by 4everlivin - Sat Feb 7 23:46:09 2009 - - 1 Answers - 0 Comments

A. If the way in which you raise money has nothing to do with the organization, even if you plan to donate it, you can do what your want. However; if you plan to use an organization's name, logo, or anything else that would be intellectual property, you would have to get permission from the group's board members. When representing an organization, you have to run it by them and get their permission. I know this can be very frustrating, because many well intended ideas have been shot down by organizations. They have to make sure their group is re presently correctly, not held liable for anything, and not associated with a group that conflicts with their interest. Organizations also have to be careful with fund raising because of their… [cont.]

Q. I kind of have an idea, but I need a more solid answer.

A. Okay so Globalism is generally the idea of unifying the world under one banner, or at least creating a union of nations including everyone that is well respected and powerful. It is expected that this global union would be one of the main forces to help problems like poverty, starvation, tech deficits. "We created the United Nations but most people are so busy worrying about their pride and their countries economic and social dominance that the UN doesn t have that much power. ... Take the country Sierra Leone for example- 6.4 million people, less than 200 doctors in the country full time, a that makes 32000 patients per certified doctor. You can t justify that ...it should have been important as a social movement that could have… [cont.]

Is the extent that the royals exhibit philanthropy in proportion to their wealth?
Q. geronimo- They can sponsor fund raisers that only require a donation of their time. LL- So, do you feel that the extent of their donations is in proportion to their wealth? Random acts of kindness increase the immune system's ingredient, serotonin, in not only those who are first party (donor/donee) but also in anyone who witnesses the act of benevolence. Thus, philanthropy contributes to a healthier world.

A. The Royal Family do much to contribute to charitable causes. Why only the other day a boy scout knocked on the gates of Buckingham Palace to enquire as to whether the Queen might want to make use of his services during Bob-a-Job week. He was invited into the Palace and cleaned all of the windows, mowed the lawns, took the corgis for a walk and polished the boots of the Household Cavalry. At the end of the day the boy was presented with a shiny five pence piece for which he was most grateful. Never let it be said that the Queen doesn't do her bit for charity!

Michael Jackson will be best remembered for his Music, Public Image or Philanthropy?
Q. To me he will be remembered by all three.

A. Sadly, I think the negative public image will be up there with the great music - people looking at pictures of him in years to come will no doubt be struck by his unusual appearance and the stories about the surgery and all the other alleged bizarre behaviours will persist. The philanthropy will definitely be remembered but it'll take a back seat to all the other "weird" stuff.

Q. I'd like to be in a fraternity whose goal is to help people
Asked by The Imaginer - Wed May 14 13:17:57 2008 - - 3 Answers - 0 Comments

A. All the frats at my university are required to have some philanthropy but not all take it very seriously. Some just have big parties/concerts and use the money they make to give to a cause. I would say you are better off joining a frat for fun or with lots of brothers in the kinds of majors aimed that helping people (sociology, psych, social welfare, public health, pre-med, etc) and then join organizations on campus who have specific focuses that interest you. There's nothing wrong with having group membership outside of your frat!! Good luck!

Asked by Chrisman Letters - Fri Aug 8 19:26:32 2008 - - 1 Answers - 0 Comments

A. No to your title question. As for your proposition, why don't you check out some in-country (Kenyan) non-profits and pick one or a few of them to help you set up some scholarships. It takes behemoths like Oprah and an Oprah-enamored South African government to start a real school anywhere in Africa, and likely much more to establish a university..

A. I don't think it is a yes or no question. See "prisoner's dilemma" for a theory on why altruism can be a viable evolutionary strategy. We are not yet wise enough to know exactly who will and who will not be a valuable addition to our gene pool. Allowing impoverished people to starve and preventing them from reproducing may deprive the next generation from a Steven Hawking.

Q. What are the strategies non-profits must begin to employ to build meaningful relationships with the next generation of philanthropists?
Asked by ScottFarkus - Wed Nov 29 23:36:36 2006 - - 6 Answers - 0 Comments

A. Social Capital, Political Capital, and a desire to truly make a difference are all requirements to engage a philanthropic enterprise. To be successful though, expertise, awareness, and confidence are absolutely necessary. Philanthropy today is most commonly found under social entrepreneurs (just google it and you'll see what I mean). Still, although it requires someone who truly wants to help people, it also requires leadership, charisma, and dilligence to get the job done.

A. He gets you to hide away. He tells everybody, you're missing, makes heartfelt appeals through the media for you to return and for anyone who's got you to release you, and then gets someone to offer a whacking reward for your safe return. Then he dumps you in the forest and arranges to find you wandering there ten minutes later. It might be better to get someone you can trust to find you. But then you'd have to split the money.
